Some news from the Scottish society of gastroenterology:-

The SSG are welcoming new members across a range of disciplines we are reaching  out to Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Hospital @night teams.

We are keen to develop a Nurse’ forum to run alongside the scientific meetings.

Membership is £20 per year for both scientific meetings and future Nurse Meetings

The aim of the nurse meeting and development of membership is to help develop services and share protocols and education needs. Sharing knowledge and improving quality in advanced practice

The nurse meeting will be RCN accredited

Covering topics including:

Acute upper GI bleeding – variceal and non- variceal

Decompensated liver disease – with a view to developing a National Care bundle

Interventional radiology – When to refer for TIPS

Nurse led paracentesis service

Master classes in gastroenterology

Management of IBD treatment escalation plans

Interpretation of Pathology and treatments choices in Hepatology Endoscopy ,Colorectal disease

The SSG also aim that if we have a large nurse representation and membership then there will be opportunities to apply for funding grants for future study leave , projects etc.

We would also be keen to find out of any other topics that members would like to be included in future programmes

Also we are keen for any poster presentations and or speakers.
